Hi, LETS' GET IT ON!

 hi readers

I am Ignatius Musonza, an author, mentor, creative content creator and consultant. I have published feature articles, short stories and poetry in different magazines, journals and set books.

Welcome to my first post, as I type I have not yet named this piece because its from the heart..., eish... wait a minute I think I've just got it... the title I mean, from one of my favourite songs from the late Marvin Gaye.

To get better acquainted I think I had better start from my personality. I was born arts-struck somehow, and curiously loved challenges. From a tender age I remember not being a friends' person but more of a loner mostly with the community inside my head for company, hence clay, cardboard, stick or wire figurines were my thing before the reading bug struck. I grew up quite good at pencil drawing and won my school several art competitions. The reading bug bit me unexpectedly around grade 3 when I discovered Ladybird Write and complete books, then I moved on to upper class stories. I even won a prize of 5 novels, a bible and dictionary for, I quote' having read the largest number of library books in the whole school' end of quote. The rest is history that I will mix with other life observations here as we discuss.

That 'love of challenges' character also saw me in  a lot of adventures and the tell tale scars still give testimony of that phase of my life. I was always curious and eager to try something new. That part of me led to very interesting exposure of another side of me leading to a ... Mmm, I don't know if spiral is the right word here. Ok back to my story. Curiosity led me to approach my first Karate trainer/coach/sensei who was searching for a sparing partner. I cannot remember the full circumstance but it led to him meeting me  and eventually developing a strong teacher student relationship and my grasping the Goju Ryu style without once attending a dojo. A few bruises and bumps eventually led to me being so good that my sensei had to break sweat to get the better of me. I went on to train my own student, a friend and it saved his life when he got attacked by two thugs on his way to night duty. I was so delighted when he told me the next day.

From then I knew two more things about myself; that I could be good at anything I set my mind to do, and two I was clearly good at passing on to others whatever knowledge I gathered and change their life. I liked that feeling, a lot. That karate training also led to my successful  performance during National parks  physical entry tests, which I sailed through. National parks transfers led to publication of my first work with Masvingo post and Publicity bureau which was all poetry. Then the lure of publications took over and I had works in different magazines, stories and feature articles followed in National papers too, eventually leading to the first book publication coming out and another, till now I have 11 published books and three under consideration.
